2. Handle Options
Single-handled faucets
A single-handled faucet rotates directionally, usually providing the ability to regulate flow with an up-and-down motion and temperature with a side-to-side motion.
The temperature adjustment is less precise than with a two-handled faucet. However, besides the advantage of requiring only one hole in your countertop, these are really convenient when you have only one hand free. These faucets often feature high arching pro-style designs so that they can easily accommodate large pots and vessels in the sink.
Double-handled faucets
These faucets usually require at least three holes for installation and can be more customizable because of the wide variety of handle options.
Two-handled faucets can adjust the water temperature and the flow rate more sensitively because they have hot and cold handles. However, you may spend more time cleaning and controlling also because of the two separate handles.
Hands-free faucets
This hands-free option is activated by a sensor. Notice the handle at the side, which allows you to adjust the temperature and flow rate.
These faucets operate with a sensor that detects light contact (some are activated by motion) to open the valve. Therefore, they have the advantage of shutting off automatically to conserve water. However, these faucets require an occasional battery change for the sensor to work.
3. Styles
Do you have a kitchen that is contemporary or one that is reminiscent of a farmhouse kitchen?
Styles range from historically detailed to simple, clean lines, curves or 90-degree angles, etc. This will shift the look of your kitchen to express the style you prefer. Options are various, but before you’re ready to pick the style, your kitchen style should already be established, which will help narrow down the options.

4. Price and Quality
Most of the faucets use ball, cartridge, or ceramic disk valves. A faucet with a ceramic disk valve, stainless steel, or solid brass base materials will be more durable and will cost more than one with plastic parts.
The weight is one good judgment of the quality, pick it up If you aren’t sure whether a fitting is a solid brass. It should feel heavier than other units. Solid brass bodies last longest and require the least care, especially with hard water corroding some metals. These faucets, as you may imagine, cost the most.
Don’t be greedy, because lower-priced faucets are often made with plastic parts that don’t hold up. When replacing an inexpensive faucet and hiring a plumber to install a replacement, the cost may quickly negate the savings.
